Unruffled Yelagir

unruffeled yelagiri
One fine day I was just surfing the picture of golden temple in net. Athos was cooking something in kitchen , I asked him "Have you ever been to golden temple?"  As expected answer is negative but with a strange question. "Which golden temple you are asking? Amritsar or Vellore?" . I was surprised , "Two Golden Temple!!. Let me check". And google said,  there is a golden temple at Vellore.  I pinged the link to Aramis, "Should we go to this place?" and as expected quick reply came, "yes.....".

We have to travel  more than 200 Km distance and this time we are not in mode of  biking , moreover we want to spend 2 days at somewhere outside Bangalore. Only Golden temple is not enough for 2 days.Goggle suggest one nearby place ---"Yelagiri". Everybody surprised. What kind of place is this? never heard about this name. So we decided to go here. As usual we started our plan for Yelagiri and Vellore golden temple and we failed again. Planning is not our cup of tea. Anyway we booked a cab for this 2 day trip and next Saturday morning we started the journey.

We took the tumkur highway . In this trip we all are new. We are in unknown route. Our driver is also new and its a new route for him. Even the car is also new. So no worry, nobody know the route to Yelagiri. Our plan is, if we find Yelagiri before lunch then we will settle down at  any hotel there and  we will take direction for golden temple. The main difference between bike and cab journey is , in bike you can stop anywhere and everywhere. But in cab you have to half depend on your driver. This road is amazing, lots of ups and downs through hill and road is silky smooth. Our driver was very happy because he can press the accelerator as much as he want. After a 4 hours journey we somehow came to foothill. As usual we lost route many times. But still now we can see one signboard "welcome to Yelagiri"..

Before entering Yelagiri you can find different shops with very beautiful handcraft things. Like pillow , bedsheets and these all are with different  texture, different from south Indian normal pattern. Anyway we are not interested in shopping. We started hiking up in search of some hotels or rest house. At the top of the hill we find there are only few hotels present near the main market which has only 15-20 shops. Yelagiri is basically a very small hill top ,where it has  few hotels, very few shops . Main attraction what we find here is, this place has no noise, no pollution, no mobile tower so you can enjoy your life at peace at least for two days. Just imagine 2 days without mobile phone. incredible peace in life.
We found a decent room at very nominal cost, took some rest and got the direction for golden temple. We started for golden temple around 3 PM as it open at 5.  I thought may be like other temple it also have its top with gold platted. Till I entered the temple I was in this impression. The temple is neat and clean with 300/- ticket. Picture is prohibited in the temple so Aramis's lenses are no use here. The temple is relatively new probably 10 15 years old. But the main thing is the full temple is made of GOLD!!!!!!!!!! Can you imagine in a country where half of the population is under poverty level there one so called  god man has taken this area and building a temple with gold. I have no idea it spread in how many acre , but can tell you its a real big area. Sometimes I fell perplexed , how people become so foolish to believe these so called god and donate such huge money. sometimes I think this is real India .. outside of the temple I saw many poor people waiting for there turn to get some food and inside there is a temple of gold. People showing there worship not only by giving there money but also with CREDIT CARD, DEBIT CARD!!! I know seeing is believing. So please visit once this place where you can see lots of debit credit cards, currency is just wasting in the name of god. Really this is a crazy India or I should say incredible India.
We got 300/- ticket so they offered us one free puja with cow. I was not ready but then think lets see another face of India.  This city has one of the best hospital in India, it has IT hub, some KM away it has worlds one of the powerful IT hub, but still worship of cow is happening here. ok lets see. They bought one cow and for half an hour tortured her in the name of the god. That poor animal is showing the pain in its face but who cares. There everybody is earning there blessing from god by torturing that poor animal. Jai ho India. Sometimes I wonder people shout about black money of politicians in swiss bank and blah blah those same people give donation and huge money to these so called god man and they made this kind of shit. Nobody ask  these god men from where they get this money.
Ok back to topic. The temple is made of golden brick. It is situated in between a lake. The best time to see the temple is from dawn when lights are just started blinking on the temple and your eyes will be blind if you stare for long time.
This picture is taken from internet.

We started from the temple at 8 PM, from vellore to Yelagiri there is a place called Ambur. Yes correct .. the famous Ambur biriyani. We packed them for our dinner. Frankly I don't like the taste of Ambur Biriyani, but Athos and Aramis gobbled it like they were waiting for this moment from their birth!
Next day morning we started exploring Yelagiri by foot, you don't need car to finish Yelagiri. We roam here and there saw some temple , one lake and mostly take rest for the day. After lunch we started from Yelagiri towards Bangalore because next day we have to fix all bugs again.

P.S - Don't expect to see much at these places, but if you want to take discontinuous rest for some days you can visit this place once.
